Summer Ends. Marvelousness Doesn’t!

Heeeeeeelllllo!!! It’s been a long time!

There is so much to share with you especially about the past few months. If you follow me on Instagram or on Facebook, you had a chance to see why I called this summer the #BestSummerEver

In June, I held a two-week class at Hockaday as part of their #SummerAtHockaday camp. After a quick trip to Houston to speak at Blueridge United Methodist Church, I traveled to the Kingdom of Morocco with 13 high school girls and 3 other fabulous women through Girl Captain, for ten powerful days of challenges, leadership, and adventure. 2018-07-04_06-22-22_441

After Morocco, I stayed in New Hampshire with Brook to relax, hike, speak and prepare for GLC! 🙂 After our 8th summer for Girls Leadership Camp, I came home, unpacked and packed for South Africa!!

Yes, South Africa! I am now a part of the U.S. Department of State’s Office of the U.S. Speaker Program. So through the U.S. Mission South Africa, I traveled to four cities in South Africa where I spoke on girls empowerment issues including creating safe spaces, combating gender-based violence, and anti-bullying.

I promise to share more about my summer at another time because this post was supposed to be about one of the best days coming in October! 🙂

Atlantis Secondary School, Western Cape, South Africa

This year will be the 3rd Annual Marvelous Girls’ Summit! In the past, we’ve invited girls who are in the 6th-8th grades, but this year, after many requests, the Marvelous Girl’s Summit will include 5th-grade girls. Attachment-1 (6)

This summit will bring girls from different schools, communities, backgrounds, and experiences together to connect in small groups over the one thing we all have in common: BEING A MARVELOUS GIRL!

Girls will learn about how to have “perfect” friendships; rejoice and celebrate loving her body as it is (she will love the jiggle talk); see current fashion trends in the form of a real fashion show and take away tips on how to make the trends work for her and she’ll do all of this while having a lot of fun!

There is even a special workshop for you, the adult woman in her life, who can join us after lunch to learn more about issues concerning girls, like cyberbullying and addressing anxiety with girls.

Speaking of special women, an extraordinary student group at SMU, Sisters Supporting Sisters, is once again, our unique partner in designing this day. These college women will help facilitate workshops, provide mentorship and be real examples of how cool it is for girls to support other girls.

Without a doubt, every girl, regardless of age, will leave the Marvelous Girls’ Summit knowing she IS a marvelous GIRL!

Don’t just take my word for it. Here is a testimonial from one of our attendees!
