#MGS17

A day for girls to be themselves and to be reminded that they were born to be marvelous. It was also created for girls to be more than what’s expected, more than what’s required and more than what’s modeled. And based on the evaluations from the attendees and the testimonials from parents…

Tragedy. Art. Influence.

Regarding Charlottesville, I have to add a disclaimer. My words and tone suggested that parents know what their son or daughter is doing every second of the day. How irresponsible of me.

Also on the show, Kalen McGuire. An artist, a photographer, a college student and my cousin!

First Tip: Decide if the Assessment is True

Has your daughter ever said (through sighs and tears) that another girl ruined her day? If your daughter is anything like the ones I’ve worked with over the years, the reason for the ruination could be:

“She didn’t talk to me because I’m not pretty enough and she said I don’t look like the other girls.”

“I couldn’t sit with them because she told them I have an awkward shape.”

“She told the team that if I make it, it’s only because the coach feels sorry for me.”

Be Happy

How do you rejoice with others if you’re still waiting on your “reason” for rejoicing?

Have you ever found yourself surrounded by people who seem to all be receiving the answers to their prayers or being granted whatever they’ve been waiting on or hoping for? Meanwhile, YOU are still waiting on YOUR good thing.

How do you respond to this with happiness? Especially when you’re like “HEY, can I get a breakthrough?”
